Last week Ford formally signalled its support of London Pride 2005.

This year, the format will be different in that there is no park event as such. The parade and rally remain but will now be preceded with not only a Festival Fortnight but also a 'party' event in Leicester Square!

Festival Fortnight will run from June 18th to July 1st. The parade, rally and party will be on July 2nd. The party will host the Virgin Cabaret Tent as well as a sponsored search for drag and cabaret talent. The Mayor of London has pledged to make Pride THE tourist event of the year and has obtained a 'twinning' of Pride London and Pride Sydney which has resulted in the parade being doubled in size. Pride London is already being worked on by the Tourist Board in Australia and will soon be promoted in North America, South America and across Europe.

Pride London sees the number of blue-chip companies that are allowed to participate being limited to those who satisfy Pride as having sound equal opportunity policies. Ford are also considering sponsoring a theatre premiere during the Festival Fortnight as well as producing the t-shirts to be worn by Festival 'Hosts'.
