IRVINE, Calif., March 28, 2002 – Aston Martin Jaguar Land Rover North America will participate as a sponsor of this year's Annual GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) Media Awards. Jaguar will donate two one-year 2003 S-TYPE leases, and Land Rover will donate two one-year 2002 Freelander leases for the award ceremonies.
The first GLAAD 2002 award ceremony will be held in New York City on Monday, April 1 at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square. The following ceremonies will be held in Los Angeles on Saturday, April 13 and in San Francisco on Saturday, June 1. Guests at the New York and Los Angeles events will have an opportunity to participate in a live auction for a Freelander lease. In San Francisco guests will bid on a Jaguar S-TYPE lease. The remaining S-TYPE lease will be cyber-auctioned from April 1-13 at www.HollywoodCharities.com. All proceeds will benefit the GLAAD organization.
“We are pleased to continue our commitment to GLAAD for the third continuous year,” comments Simon Sproule, vice president of Communications and Marketing Services for Aston Martin Jaguar Land Rover North America. “Jaguar sponsored this event the past two years and we are increasing our organization's support by including Land Rover this year.”
The revised 2003 Jaguar S-TYPE range will go on sale May 6 in the United States. This revised range retains its highly distinctive, stylish and admired exterior design while a thorough engineering program sees approximately 70 per cent new content in the car. Land Rover debuted the 2002 Freelander this past December, which will be a key part of Land Rover's growth in 2002. It is the first all-new Land Rover for North America since 1994.
GLAAD is a non-profit organization, which works for fair, accurate and inclusive representations of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, and transgender people in all areas of print, broadcast and film.
